I love trying on sunglasses and seeing how the shape of a frame can make my face look completely different. I think most people do. Whenever we get new styles in at work, we all jump from our offices and run from the warehouse to the mirrors, trying them on to see how they look on us. But not everyone has thousands of pairs of sunglasses to play with everyday like we at Sunscape do, so shopping for styles that work with our features can be frustrating (especially when you’re shopping online and can’t try them on). So here’s a little guide to make the shopping process a bit easier (or at least give you a starting point when searching for that perfect frame to compliment your wonderful face). Here we go…..
Keep in mind when looking for the perfect frame that the size of your features are most important. If you have smaller features, you want to go with a smaller frame so you don’t ‘overwhelm’ your face with a frame that’s too big or get a frame that is too small if your features are more prominent. The best rule of thumb is to go with a style that is the opposite of what your face is for that perfect Yin Yang balance. So be aware of that when reading through these tips.
Oval Faces
If you’re one of the lucky people to have an oval shaped face, you can wear pretty much anything. Big bold fashion frames, more subtle aviators, standard wayfarers, retro shields… experiment and have fun.
Here are a few styles that will work with that wonderfully versatile oval face shape:

Round Face
With a rounder face, you’re going to want styles that lengthen your features and add definition and angles to your face. Look for frames that are equal to or wider than the widest part of your face (and higher temples will create a longer profile). Bold colors, or solid blacks work well and draw attention away from the center of your face.
Frames for you to look for are wider frames, oversized frames, or rectangular shapes. Here are a few suggestions:

Rockstar Wonderlust

Secret Mona Lisa
Square Face
These distinctive faces have strong jawlines and wide cheekbones. To contrast these features, go with curvy and rounded frames. Avoid strong angles and square frames, but go with classic ovals, rounds, and cat eyes to soften the jawline and add length.

Oblong Face
To widen and shorten the face make sure to find a frame that doesn’t extend past the widest part of your face. Like with a square face, round frames will be a great contrast to the angles in your features. But you can also really work some softer square frames… and try frames with decorative or contrasting temples.

Rockstar Hearts

Rockstar Angie
Diamond Face
With wide, high cheekbones and narrow forehead or chin, you’re going to want rounded or soft shaped frames. Make sure the frames aren’t wider than your cheekbones because you want to visually widen the rest of your face. The best frames for you are ovals, soft square frames or rimless.

Rockstar Cougar

Dazed N Confused Rimless
Heart Shaped or Triangle Face
With a narrower jaw and wider forehead, you want to accentuate the eye area to soften and broaden the jawline. Soft cat eye frames are great with this. Or metal frames with a straight top (like aviators) or with rimless bottoms work great.

Rockstar Maddox
